FAQ
Have questions?
Here we answer the questions attendees, hosts, organizations and sponsors ask us most.
For attendees
What is STEM GIRLS Week?
A decentralized festival that brings together, for one week, the events of NGOs, local chapters and community leaders who bring girls and women closer to science, technology, engineering and math.
When is it?
February 11–18. It starts every year on February 11, the International Day of Women and Girls in Science.
Where do events take place?
In cities around the world and online. In December we open the agenda with a map so you can find events near you.
How much does it cost to attend?
It depends on each event: there are free and paid events. The price is shown on each event page.
How do I register for an event?
Each event has its own registration, managed by its organizer. From the agenda we take you to their registration page.
Can I attend several events?
Of course! Join as many as you like during the week. Soon you will be able to collect a digital charm for each event.
Can underage girls attend?
Yes. Each event lists its recommended age. Minors need permission from a parent or guardian, and some events require an adult to accompany them.
Are events only for girls and women?
They are designed for them, but many events also welcome families, teachers and allies. Check each event for details.
For City Hosts and organizers
Do I need to be a City Host to register an event?
No. Any person or organization can register their event directly at “Register your event”, without applying.
What does a City Host do?
They organize the official STEM GIRLS Week launch event in their city and bring the other local movements and events together under one chapter. To be a City Host you do need to apply.
Do I need experience organizing events?
No. We share materials and the experience of other hosts so your event turns out amazing.
What kind of events can I organize?
In-person or online workshops, livestreams, talks, bazaars, networking events, breakfasts, lunches, dinners or concerts, as long as they bring girls and women closer to STEM.
Can I charge for my event?
Yes. Events can be free or paid. You manage registration and payments with the tool of your choice.
When do I register my event?
Starting now, at “Register your event”. We review every submission and, once approved, it appears on the public agenda that opens in December.
What requirements must my event meet?
It must have a clear STEM focus, be aimed at girls and women, take place between February 11 and 18, have a complete submission and be a safe space. The details are in the event guidelines.
Who approves events?
The STEM GIRLS Week team reviews every submission by hand and confirms it meets the guidelines before publishing it.
Can I register an event outside Mexico?
Yes. The first chapter is in Mexico City, but STEM GIRLS Week is for the whole world: you can register events in any city or online. Each event is shown in its local time.
What do I get as a host?
The festival brand and materials, a spot on the official agenda and map, and a community of hosts from other cities.
What am I responsible for?
Your event's logistics: venue, schedule, registration, attendee safety and following the code of conduct.
For NGOs and movements
How do I add my organization?
Fill out the application and choose “Add my NGO or movement”. We will reach out to welcome you.
Can we add events we already organize?
Yes. If your activity takes place during festival week, it can be part of the official agenda.
Will our logo appear on the site?
Only with your permission. Participating organizations appear on the movement of movements wall.
Can events be online or global?
Yes. The agenda includes in-person, hybrid and online events, local or global.
For sponsors
How can I sponsor STEM GIRLS Week?
We are preparing our sponsorship packages. Write to us and we will share them as soon as they are ready.
Can I support with something other than money?
Yes. Event venues, materials, kits, mentoring or promotion make a big difference too. Tell us what you would like to offer.
